Assessing caesarean section trends in tertiary care using Robson’s ten group classification

Background: This study determined which clinical situations contributed to and led caesarean delivery in tertiary care hospitals, using Robson’s classification approach, audit the rising prevalence of sections.Methods: retrospective data collection was conducted for 2 years at a hospital. Mothers who gave birth between October 2017 2019 were included study. Using method they categorized into ten groups. In each categories, rates calculated analysed. The contribution category overall section rate percentage computed.Results: our hospital, 384 550 women during period underwent lower segment (LSCS), with an C 69.8%. Group 5 (multiparous prev 1 or more LSCS) highest C-sections followed by group (Primi induced whose done without labour). Although groups 6, 7, 8, 9 did not contribute significantly C-sections, this patients are approaching 100%. primis came spontaneous labour had least LSCS (29.47%).Conclusions: Women have previous primigravidas account growing deliveries. Public policies awareness should be aimed minimising LSCS, especially lowering number elective CS these supporting vaginal delivery.
